Depends on what your fence is actually for. Ornamental iron is the stronger call where security is the point, meaningfully tougher than aluminum and the right choice for an anti-climb perimeter. Both take the same coating, so they end up looking much the same; aluminum does not rust the way iron does, which is what makes it the call for frontage where added strength is not the point. If your site sits near the bay, that pushes it toward aluminum on its own, because salt is hard on iron.
