HOA Fence Repair & Installation

Fencing and HOAs

If you are installing a new fence or repairing an existing structure, there are several points you should consider before, during and after the process. Fencing significantly affects the look of more than just your property – it can alter the appearance of the neighborhood.

Planning Process

At Greak Fence and Deck, we recommend you consider these suggestions as part of the planning process:

  • Communicate with your neighbors about your plans. This will help to uncover potential concerns in advance and get the project off to a positive start.
  • Confirm with your Homeowners Association (HOA). Each HOA has its own approval process that will likely involve several questions from a smaller internal group known as an Architectural Review Committee (ARC). Be prepared for the ARC to have a unique set of guidelines and standards that you must adhere to.

It is important to know that an HOA is a corporation, and all possess governing documents: covenants, conditions, by-laws and restrictions.  As a legal entity, an HOA must be registered with the state; and the governing documents recorded with the Clerk of The Court in the county they are located.

  • Be informed about zoning regulations. Professional fencing companies, like Greak Fence and Deck, are often knowledgeable about local restrictions on height, setbacks, and rules specific to corner-lots, but make sure that you are also informed.
  • Fence Maintenance. Long-term upkeep is always essential to keep your fence clean and safe.  A fencing contractor can annually inspect your fence to confirm that it’s in working order and nothing is unsightly or dangerous. This will prevent fines or problems with the HOA and your neighbors.

At Greak Fence and Deck, we have been serving Houston area homeowners for more than 15 years and are committed to providing our clients with only the best customer service and warranties. To get started planning your HOA-approved fencing project, contact us at 936-257-5171.
